Keep memorizing God's word... hide it in your heart, and let it change your life - follow Jesus with a whole heart - spend time in prayer each day - just talk to Jesus, be honest and admit when you sin, and realize that He loves you and wants you to be close to Him. . . . and before you know it, we'll be together with Jesus!!
Till then,
I love you,
Mommy
I can't tell how often through these eleven years that letter has influenced me. No mother could give her child better last words. It is a perfect picture of the type of life that she led and the type of death that she died. Christ consumed her. It's typical of how she spoke from my earliest memories, not just ultra-spiritual dying words. Precious memories.

Such grown up words addressed to an eleven year old motherless girl. But what a kindness. Your mother did not give you sentimentalities. She gave you Christ. She directed you to the One who could give you more than she could. She directed you to the Book where you could find the answers to the big questions and she directed you to the Person to talk to for all your soul's needs. And even in such a tender moment she did not shy away from addressing the need you would have to speak of your sin to your Savior. What a very kind and wise woman she was. I want to hear more!
Jennie and Robin,
Just before I read this entry by Jennie I read the words of Sarah Edwards, spoken just after she heard the news that her beloved husband Jonathan had died. They made me think of Robin's earlier post and as I read this one by Jennie, I know I have to share her words with you.
The testimony of your mom's faith and of yours in her wonderful heritage, is reflected in this affecting testimony of that wonderful 19th century woman of God. She said when her beloved died:
"What shall I say? A holy and good God has covered us with a dark cloud. Oh that we may kiss the rod and lay our hands on our mouths! The Lord has done it. He has made me adore His goodness, that we had him so long. But my God lives; and He has my heart. Oh what a legacy my husband, and your father, has left us. We are all given to God; and there I am and love to be. "
Thank you sisters for modeling similar faith.

Wow... what an intense love for God Mrs. Edwards had! Thank you for sharing that!
Thank You Jenn, for sharing the words of this treasured letter. What a wonderful godly woman. What harder thing could the Lord have asked of her than to leave her children, only half grown, behind? Yet she parted from you with such grace.
I'm deeply moved by what you and Robin have shared, and am more resolved to guide our own children better.
